Year 6 Transition 2024
Congratulations on gaining a place at Harris Academy Riverside from September 2024. We are delighted to welcome you and your family to our school community and are very much looking forward to meeting our new cohort of students.
We recognise that beginning life at secondary school is a huge step. Our priority throughout the transition process is to ensure all students who will be joining us in September are fully prepared, to provide families with the information they need to support their children and to enable our new cohort of students to start a new and exciting journey at Harris Academy Riverside, to "enjoy being the best they can be".
In service of this we have created this dedicated transition section of the website which will be updated regularly with letters, documents and information for you to view and download.

Transition Days
Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th & Friday 5th July 2024.
Expectations during transition
Wednesday & Thursday Arrive 09:15 / Depart 15:15
Friday Arrive 09:15 / Depart 13:15
Students will be allowed to make their own way home.
Students must:
- Bring a packed lunch for all 3 days, water bottle, sun cream and hat if the weather is expected to be hot.
- All students must wear their current primary school uniform.
- On Friday 5th July students should bring their primary PE kit including trainers. This is not required on any other day - only Friday.

We also have a uniform pop up shop on site Tuesday 6th August 11am-3pm, where your child will be able to try uniform on and purchase uniform, if you wish to do so.

First Day (September)
We look forward to welcoming our new year 7s to the academy at 9am on Wednesday 4th September 2024
- Wednesday 4th September, 9am arrival - 08:40 every day after that.
- Students should arrive in full school uniform and bring a packed lunch for the first week
- PE kit does not need to be brought in on the first day (Wednesday 4th September) - please check timetable evening of Wednesday 4th July to see when your child has PE and bring kit on that day.
