No Place For Racism
There is no place for racism.
Events serve only to remind us of a long standing truth; that the ignorance which leads to racism still persists.
No parent, no friend or teacher wants to think of someone they love being recognised only by their background or by the colour of their skin. And yet every person subject to racism is the child of someone who loves them, the friend of someone who respects them and the student of someone who has invested in them.
Racism can be deliberate, careless or sometimes unintentional. It's roots can be buried by history, unknowingly and silently in the systems or fabric of an institution.
The antidote to ignorance is education.
At Harris Academy Riverside we will do all we can to learn about racism, never to tolerate it, to eliminate it where we find it and to educate our students in the expectation that society will recognise them as equals and - whatever their background - by the quality in their hearts.
Harris Academy Riverside is no place for racism.
