Brilliant Club - Scholars Programme
This academic year the academy will support 28 students (14 in the Spring term and 14 in the Summer term) to enrol on the Scholars Programme with a PhD lecturer. Students have been working on the theory behind efficient electric car design with an industry expert, which will culminate in them writing their own university-style essay on the subject that will be graded by a PhD lecturer and assigned a university grade. Students will be have the opportunity to graduate from the programme at a top UK university.
This is a programme designed to support students to develop skills and knowledge to make ambitious and successful applications to universities, should that be what they decide they want to do. At the same time, students will be developing great academic skills to support their school work day to day.
Last year, The Brilliant Club worked with over 12,000 students across the UK and in an independent evaluation of the programme’s impact, UCAS found taking part made it “significantly more likely” students would progress to a highly-selective university compared to a control group of students with matched characteristics.
The programmes are pitched at a key stage above where students are currently studying and are designed to develop students' written and verbal communication, critical thinking and metacognition, through exciting, supra-curricular content.
The academy fully funds the programme meaning it is free to students.
