Mental Health
The academy takes very seriously the mental health of its students. Levels of anxiety, loneliness and confusion have increased since the onset of the COVID pandemic and the academy does all it can to help students regain their confidence and sense of belonging, address their anxieties and work through their mental health issues.
As well as a dedicated pastoral team which deals very successfully with many low level mental health issues, the academy facilitates the following one to one and group sessions with external expert providers. The academy has invested heavily in these services and now provides the equivalent of 9 days' of provision every 5 working days (one full time psychologist and 2 part time mentors and counsellors.)
Access to such external interventions is funded by the academy and determined by triage by Mrs. Bianca Christie, designated safeguaring lead in liaison with parents and carers and the external provider. External providers are not allocated without the express permission of parents and carers. Parents and carers or students wishing to access services should contact Mrs. Christie by calling the academ or e mailing info@harrisriverside.org.uk
